Railways, Buses, and Taxis

In Higashi-Murayama City, the JR Musashino Line and the Seibu Line each run east-west and north-south. With respect to major roadways, Fuchu-Kaido Street runs between north-south, and Shin-0me-Kaido Street east- west. The city is well covered by bus routes.

Train fares are determined by distance. The fare for children aged 7 to 12 is half that for adults, and up to two children aged 6 and younger travel free when accompanied by an adult. When accompanying three or more such children, the fare for the third and so on is half that for adults.

There are two types of bus fares depending on the route: unified fare for the entire route and different fares depending on the distance. In the latter, pick up a numbered ticket when you get on the bus, and pay the amount according to the number displayed on the board when you get off. The fare for children aged 7 to 12 is half that of adults. That for pre-school children is free when an adult accompanies one such child.

You can catch a taxi at the taxi stand at train stations and other locations. You can also call a taxi company to pick you up. If it is difficult for you to explain where you want to go to a cab driver in Japanese, show him/her on a map.
